The procurement board of the Torrevieja City Council has selected Solaris to supply 32 zero and low-emission buses for the city's new urban transport service. This new fleet, scheduled for delivery throughout 2023, will consist of six fully electric units and 26 hybrid-powered units. Over the past few weeks, Solaris has also completed deliveries to three additional Spanish cities, providing buses with various technologies including hybrid, electric, and compressed natural gas (CNG) models.
In Elche, the recently unveiled 17 Solaris Urbino hybrid buses mark a significant milestone, as half of the city’s bus fleet is now hybrid, advancing its commitment to more sustainable public transport. Additionally, Elche will receive eight more 100% electric Solaris buses in the second quarter of 2023.
EMT Burgos has also expanded its fleet with the purchase of five Urbino CNG buses—three 12-meter units and two 18-meter articulated buses—complementing five similar vehicles delivered by Solaris in 2020.
Martorell, a Catalan town, has joined the movement towards decarbonization by adding two Solaris Urbino 8.9 LE electric buses to its fleet. These buses are equipped with batteries that support both low-power charging via a plug-in connector and fast-charging capabilities.
Currently, over 500 CAF Group buses are operating in various Spanish cities, with more than three-quarters being zero or low-emission vehicles. This number is expected to rise in the coming months due to significant contracts secured this year for cities like Madrid, Barcelona, Fuenlabrada, and Palma de Mallorca. These new deliveries reaffirm Solaris' leading role in the European electric transport sector, offering the most comprehensive range of low- and zero-emission solutions.
