Emissions reduction targets validated by SBTi

CAF Group's emissions reduction targets for 2030 and 2045 have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), making the following commitments (1):

By 2030:

  • Reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 54.7% (2), and
  • Reduce scope 3 GHG emissions from the use of sold products by 55% per passenger-kilometre.

By 2045 (net-zero) (3):

  • Reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 90%, and
  • Reduce scope 3 GHG emissions from the use of sold products by 97% per passenger-kilometre.

This action is part of the initiatives of alignment against climate change and with the Paris Agreement, thus strengthening the company's commitment to the challenge of climate change.

Science Based Targets (SBT) are a set of emissions reduction targets calculated with the highest scientific rigour as they are aligned with climate science and ensure that climate actions can be properly measured and are verifiably communicated. The aim is to enable participating companies to work towards the overarching goal of limiting global warming to below 2°C (or 1.5°C) above pre-industrial temperatures, as the governments of 195 countries committed to do at the Paris Agreement in 2015.
